Kingwood Volunteer Fire Department (KVFD) experienced a bustling evening of emergency responses yesterday, with three significant calls occurring within a span of five hours.
The evening began with a formidable brush fire on Campground Road, near the Rail-Trail trailhead. KVFD, in collaboration with Company 12 and Tunnelton, deployed six personnel along with Unit 52 and a Ranger to combat the blaze. For approximately four hours, crews battled the inferno, navigating through challenging terrain and dense brier patches exacerbated by gusty winds. Although the precise acreage of the fire has yet to be determined, initial estimates suggest it consumed between 15 to 25 acres. Despite facing relentless challenges, KVFD remained resilient, tirelessly working to contain the fire and protect surrounding areas.
While engaged in operations at Campground, KVFD received another call regarding a potential brush fire on Dogtown. Engine 56 promptly responded to the scene and efficiently extinguished the remaining flames, swiftly bringing the situation under control.
Shortly after the successful containment of the Dogtown incident, KVFD was alerted to a Motor Vehicle Collision (MVC) involving a pedestrian at Preston Memorial Hospital. However, upon assessment by Chief 5, it was determined that the vehicle had veered off the road with no occupants present. Consequently, KVFD was stood down, ensuring resources were efficiently allocated to where they were most needed.
The Kingwood Volunteer Fire Department extends its gratitude to all personnel involved in these operations and commends their dedication to serving the community. Through collaborative efforts and unwavering commitment, KVFD remains steadfast in its mission to safeguard lives and property. |
