On August 15th, Kingwood VFD welcomed home a new apparatus: Attack 5. This is a multi-use apparatus, replacing our Unit 52 and Unit 51 we recently sold while adding in new welcomed additions we didn't have previously. This apparatus will serve as a mini-pumper with its 280 gallon tank, forestry hose and smaller hand tools or even act as a small engine with its 1250 GPM pump, along with two preconnected handlines, LDH supply hose and 2.5" handline/supply. This vehicle has offroad capabilities to reach some otherwise inaccessible areas that larger engines can't reach, or could park in the middle of the Cheat River if needed to draft as a water supply with its 37" tires and 17.5" of ground clearance! We also have a Hurst Combi Tool spreader/cutter combo for rapid response for vehicle collisions with entrapment, and carries some basic EMS/First Aid supplies as a quick response vehicle for medical calls. Chief Rouzee coined it our "Swiss Army Knife" of apparatus being capable of running on the majority of the calls we handle. It's already been becoming a favorite of the members of KVFD. It's F-550 Chassis serves as an excellent base for MARCO Equipment to custom build this truck for us.
